Relative pronouns are used to introduce relative clauses. Relative pronouns are who, whom, whose, that, which, when, where, what.

  • Who     >  Used to refer to people

  • Whom     >  Also used to refer to people, but in more formal, written English

  • Whose     >  Used to refer to possession

  • That     >  Used to refer to things

  • Which     >  Used to refer to things

  • When     >  Used to refer to time

  • Where     >  Used to refer to places or locations

  • What     >  Used to refer to things
